leaking the plugs

PARIS HILTON! hot hot hot, i just got her new hoppin' song "Turn You ON." So here it is, as an unfinished early demo, produced by scott storch (of nox and lil' kim fame), although he was cooler when he was in the roots.

In other news, holy shit, the new cursive album is the best of 2006. fuck, they've done it again, for sure.

I choose nonlinear

From Slashdot. "Eight of the original 'Choose Your Own Adventure' books are to be republished this summer. From the Article: 'First published in 1979, the books let readers remix their own stories - and face the consequences. [...] the original titles return to bookstores, revamped with 21st-century references (cell phones!).'"

Kudos on the Wired article design.
I read so many of those books in elementary school. And Encyclopedia Brown books. I guess I just always wanted interaction with texts, which is why the internet later made me very content. And like browsing through links and then going back to the original page, I used to read through an adventure until I died or whatever, retrace my steps back, and continue through an alternate ending until I got the ending I wanted. Or sometimes I would find a cool ending and then read the pages backwards. You can't really do that on the internet. But then again, the books never had tabbed browsing.

The World Cup has started! Thanks, google.

through the snow climbs of canada

I visited the Getty Center on Saturday. Whatever. But within the pile of artsy trash and elitist fountains, it was ironic that I found the single most beautiful thing in our world. A diamond in the rough, beauty in the machine, freedom of being: my life has fit into a macrocosmic space. I think I spotted true beauty. And it didn't kill me.

i built this ship in a wine bottle

So besides the Apple + Nike partnership last week and nerdy jedi tricks, the real news floating around concerns a group of students trapped inside a glass elevator. Unsuccessful in using the transparent structure as a panic room against Mac nerds, the kids went without food and internet access for an excruciating 45 minutes. I can't believe they survived after going through the shiny ordeal. Images provided by the NYPD.
The gracious kid who was left out of the fishbowl has a blog. It's gonna be alright.

ok, jonathan ive, senior vice president of industrial design at apple, appreciation post.
this (real) man has been in bed with apple since 1992, consummating the best designed products in the entire hardware industry. so he began working on machines like the 20th anniversary mac - way ahead of its time.
and who could forget the pioneering technology of the newton, also aided by jon's genius.
but for me, the apotheosis of his design impact on me occured in january of 2002, when the new g4 lcd screen iMac was introduced. i remember staying up late at about 2am, hours before going to the apple store in glendale to view the satellite broadcast of the macworld keynote. time magazine leaked an image of the new imac, as seen here,

i have to go to class, check this site out http://www.jonathanive.com/ and i will resume this posting soon.
